It has been announced today at Westfield – at an event for Awards finalists – that Konnie Huq will host the West London Business Awards on Thursday 2 February at Wembley Stadium. A mother of two young boys and married to Charlie Brooker, Konnie is a successful working mum and one half of a media power couple with longstanding links to West London.
The West London Business Awards 2017 recognise the outstanding achievements of organisations and individuals across three themes: sector leadership; sustainable and responsible business; and economic growth. The winners in each category, as well as the overall West London Company of the Year 2017, will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony and dinner on Thursday 2 February at Wembley Stadium.
Now in their fourth year these are the only business awards for the West London sub-region. They celebrate business excellence, and showcase the innovation and entrepreneurial vibrancy of West London’s remarkable business community.
Announcing this year’s awards host Andrew Dakers, Chief Executive, West London Business said:
“Konnie is one of the UK’s most seasoned TV presenters, she was the longest reigning presenter on the hit BBC children’s show Blue Peter, and hosted the highest rated Xtra Factor series to date.
“With Konnie’s deep-rooted links to West London, and the creative industry – one of West London’s key sectors – we are particularly delighted to have her host this year’s awards ceremony at Wembley.”
Konnie’s appeal extends beyond the UK. She demonstrated her global appeal in Discovery Asia’s ‘Lonely Planet Six Degrees: China’. The episodes followed Konnie as she delivered the scoop on China’s most intriguing facts, traditions and customs.
Not just a broadcaster Konnie is also a well-respected writer. She co-wrote for the successful and critically acclaimed Channel 4 series ‘Black Mirror’.
