West London Business Awards 2019 winners announced – Powerday claims West London Company of the Year title

On Friday 8 February, over 430 guests from across West London descended upon Twickenham Stadium to celebrate business excellence at The West London Business Awards 2019. Alex Payne, the leading rugby presenter on Sky Sports, hosted the awards ceremony. Finalists represented sectors including retail, construction, hospitality, technology and finance. Traditional crafts such as baking were represented, as well bleeding edge West London firms working on the frontiers of modern technology.

The big winners of the night were Powerday, who scooped three awards including the prestigious title of West London Company of the Year 2019. The company’s aim is to have a zero waste to landfill, and achieve this through recycling and by using residual waste to create a high quality renewable fuels. The judges thoughts that Powerday was fulfilling a critical need in environment management, working innovatively with their clients to develop new forms of recycling and tailor their methods to the business of their clients.

The sixth year of the awards covered five themes: ‘SME Sector leadership’, ‘Sustainable & responsible business, ‘Economic growth’; and two new cluster of categories under ‘Corporate leadership’, and ‘Individual leadership’. The new categories, in addition to the existing awards, produced a highly competitive field of nominees, with twenty-eight awards up for grabs in total – and the largest shortlist ever.

Other notable winners from the evening included Ealing’s Alexanders Removals and Storage of Park Royal who claimed two awards at the ceremony; as well as Andrew Ward who picked up the Life Achievement in Business award.

Local groups – Uxbridge College students, Niisey, and Step Free Dance – as well as DJ Rusty Egan entertained guests throughout the evening. The awards also helped raise funds for the official charities of the 2019 awards, Action West London and Spark!.

Awards host Alex Payne, said:
